October 2018 Meeting Minutes

October 4, 2018

This was an attempt to sell the last of our second batch of Kettle Korn. Around 20 bags were sold, which was a decent turnout for a soccer game on an afterschool day.

Attendance was much better this meeting, and things ran more smoothly. Members signed in for attendance and more people turned in membership forms. Chesapeake Housing Mission forms were turned in as well.

In preparation for the Ramp Build, the woman it was being done for was discussed. Leos were invited to stay all day and bring their own tools and gloves if they would like, and should make sure to wear closed-toe shoes. If anyone cannot come but already signed up, they must find a replacement. The whole build should last from around 7am to 4 pm. Its location was written on the board.

The Kettle Korn fundraiser was discussed - it has brought in nearly $500. Everyone should try to sell their own as well as be involved in either of the times that were given (Saturday Football Game and Wednesday Lions Meeting).

The book help at the Wicomico County Library was brought up, and the prospective date of November 12th. The idea was described. As was the gingerbread fundraiser, which Leos were encouraged to participate in.

The Arlington trip was announced, and the cost of $20 per person was expressed to the Leos. They would need to get there sharply at 3:45am, but it may end earlier in the day if we left earlier. Permission slips will be given soon.

Santa's Angels will actually be the 21st and 22nd (Packaging and delivery), and these dates were given to the Leos as well.

Numerous Leos number around 20, a few Lions including Mr. and Mrs. Langan, and a few leaders from the Chesapeake Housing Mission

Most Leos came early at around 7am. Despite very cold temperatures the Leos all got to work on various parts of the ramp. The frames were built, and by around noon the entire switchback ramp had basically been laid out and the first half had been nearly completed. Although some Leos left at this time, many stayed the entire day. A few more arrived at noon, and the entire ramp was finished early at about 3 pm.
